I took James (fiddy) up to the race this morning which was a mistake! haha just kiddin James. James, Jon, Matt and I did a 2 mile watrmup and I felt really good on the warmup which isnt normal. I started the race a bit fast I think but James, Paul Pilkington, Tim and I stayed together for the first mile. 5:55 with some up hill.  The second mile James took off and Paul went after him. Tim and I stayed together. 5:17 with steep downhill. The third mile I got into a comfortable pace and James and Paul were still pulling away. 5:43. The 4th mile is preping us for the big hill to come and I didnt want to push it just yet. 5:54 with some rollers. The 5th mile is what I so famously like to call the bastard! It brings grown men like myself to our knees! I decided to push it. I had a thought in my head to push up the hills and downhills hard and use the flats for a break. Yeah right there is no flat in this race. 6:29 all up hill! Mile 6 was more up hill and then gave us a downhill break and thats when I caught Paul Pilkington but he dropped out of the race there I guess.  He's a great strong runner! 6:29 less steepness in that mile, but I was tired.  Mile 7 Ohhh mile 7! Just when you thought the bastard at mile 5 grabbed hold of your soul and sucked the life out of you, mile 7 was worse. I felt like I was going to go upside down at some point because the hill went straight up and I thought backwards a bit. lol 7:02 very hard! Mile 8 I had James in my sight on the hill and was gaining on him and then he was solid gone becuase we then make a turn and run downhill. 5:12 and I felt great! Mile 9 had a little woopdie doo in it that just nipped at my calves a bit but a continuation of down hill. 5:38. Mile 10 This last mile is where you would like to cut the course so bad! You see the finish line in the parking lot as your running up a hill but they make you run around the block first up a pretty good incline and then it drops you about your last 1/3 mile into the parking lot. I did a 6:16 on the last mile and took 2nd overall and Hey, I beat Trevor! Holy crap! not to get a big head, but he told me I could brag about a Trevor defeat! haha Im kidding Trevor, I dont need a humility leason on the next race. Just let me bask in this for a few weeks. lol  It was a great day today. Im looking forward to the half marathon in a couple of weeks. This is Walter Brown------Good Day!

P S I forgot to mention I did a 4 mile cool down with the boys. Since im 10 years older than most of them I think I can get away with calling them the boys.

Man, nice job! I was going to say you must've beat Trevor. From what I hear, that's worth bragging over. A little Jungle Book and Paul Harvey in this entry.

Haha I know, im working on my jungle language. Its a progress in work. Thanks Burt. This race put me into 2nd place overall for the series behind Trevor. Im interested to see how he runs the half marathon and 30k. He is an animal.

Congrats! What a solid race, you are running so well right now. Man, is there no way you can make Boston? It would be awesome to run together there!

From josse on Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 19:34:59 from 70.192.23.85

I am finely on the mend, and feeling like I can run again. I am not so focused on it right know. Planning on adding to the family, it was a done deal but know it's not. But that goes life and still trying.

From james on Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 20:21:01 from 67.172.226.141

Man Walter I thought you were Trevor when I looked back at 10K and it made me dig even deeper. I'm looking forward to some aided courses how about you?

From Kelli on Sun, Mar 15, 2009 at 20:36:56 from 71.219.76.202

From walter on Mon, Mar 16, 2009 at 21:28:02 from 76.27.13.75

Cody, Im glad those hills are behind me!

Jeff, Im soo close to the race now. I actually asked my wife if she wanted to go with me by ourselves but I just cant make it happen. I even thought about get this, flying out on a red eye on Sunday and running the race and coming home monday night. haha I dont think so! Im sorry, Why dont you plan a Marine Corps marathon with me or another out of stater.

Josse! Good to hear from you! I have been out of the loop of who's who lately I just know I havnt seen your face on any of the running billboards. lol Im sorry to hear about your loss, and happy to see you keep your chin up and keep trying. God bless you and Ill see you on the trails.

James, I held this little secret too long, I was wanting to have you say the phrase "what is it you cant face?" I tried and probed you Saturday but couldnt get you to say it! I think i would have fallen over and choked on my Gatorade! Keep on keeping on!

Kelli, you have to wake up pretty early in the morning to catch me peeping in your window! haha "Emo Phillips quote" Im really not a perv. Well, Not a big one!
