Ok Im home so I can do a quick write up.   I went into this race with one goal and that was to beat the natorious Pepe Peterson.  I had a strategy from running this race and that was to go as hard as I could out  and let the steep downhill at mile two push me to a 5 or faster pace mile. I started and was running side by side to Pepe and he dropped back after a half mile and I was all alone besides a younger guy who got behind me about mile 1 to draft from the head wind we got. Once I hit mile 2 it was where I wanted to be. Hitting 4:58-5:08 pace till mile 6. I didnt hear anyone behind me at all.  At mile 7 I counted to 28 seconds until some bystanders clapped for me till they clapped again. Kind of tricky in my book. I was a bit worried at that point. I was fading to a 5:40 pace and couldnt seem to go any faster even with the down hill parts that came up. At mile 9 I was down to about 10 seconds ahead of Pepe. This worried me as I was having stomach issues. I almost had to stop at mile ten because it was burning. I knew if I stopped Id lose the race so I kept on pushing. Mile 11 and 12 were both 5:40 pace and I knew I had to push a 5:30 or better on my last mile so I gave it all I got. At mile 12.6 I turned around and saw that I had about .10 mile lead on Pepe but knew he was a strong finisher so I set it in my head to push as hard as possible on the last turn in and stayed ahead of him. He pushed me hard! I finished about 20 seconds ahead of him. He is quite the competitor.  I talked to him for a while afterward and he wants a showdown in SGM.  I will have to see. I really want to do the Twin Cities so either race will be competition.  I ended up with $500.00 bucks which is about 2-3 days of concrete work so I will take it!

My pacers did an amazingly great job helping 10 pace times and tons of compliments were given which is what I live for! Its so fun!

I got to the start and did a few strides with Scott Keate and saw Rob Murphey.  These guys look so intimidating! :) I had a goal to start as hard as I could and push a 4:50 pace as far as I could. The race started and there was a pack immediately formed of about 6 guys. Then there was my two Herriman High School kids that were tailing behind. I ran side by side with Chuck and Rory for the first two miles. Mile one was 4:45. It was funny, they asked me what my split was and when I said 445 they started cheering. It pshyched me out a bit I have to admit. lol Mile 2 was 5:05 and this is where the high school pack dominated me. I got passed by two groups. So I was behind the third pack.  I stayed this way the rest of the race. I missed mile 3 time but mile 4 was 20:46. So I was averaging 5:30 pace there. Mile 5 was 26.42 So I was fading pretty good there. I came in at 31:30 So Im guessing I wouldve hit about 33:10ish.  I followed Ben and Scott off the course and everyone behind me followed suit. We shaved 2 blocks off so we figured about .25 was taken off. A bit disheartening at the finish when I saw my time but I will take it. I believe I won Masters overall but its yet to be determined. Not for certain right now. I may be dq'ed who knows.

To the Officer that sent Scott and Ben the wrong way Iplease keep your language cleanin your general direction!

Wow, what a chaotic morning! I got up to the top and tried to get my pacers organized and there were some that were scary late! I didnt have time to warm up but I couldnt if I tried. I took pedialyte with my dinner because yesterdays work in the heat drained me. I thought it would help but it gave me stomach issues. I went twice before the race and felt better but my gut was a rumbling. I started the race off with a 4:57 right behind Scott Keate and another guy. It felt ok but I couldnt get my legs moving after that. Mile 2 was 5:21 and Justin passed me on this mile and I was in 4th. I felt real tired and sluggish. Mile 3 was 5:21 again. No matter what I did, I couldnt seem to go faster than that. Funny because AF half I was busting below 5 till the bottom. Mile 4 was5:26. Steve passed me and I told him I wasnt feeling good, I couldnt keep with him. Mile 5 was 5:13, Lindsey passed me as well and when she got by me I was amazed at how quiet she runs! Her form is so light and its like watching a kenyan. Her Bright pink shoes were pshyching me out. I got to look at them the whole rest of the way. lol Mile 6 was 5:11, 7 was 5:16. Mlie 8 was 5:28, 9 was 5:52, 10 was 6:02. I guess I can thank Lindsey for pushing me out of the 5:20 slump to stay with her till the rollers. I found myself gaining on her on every roller and then she would gap me on the down hill parts. Mile 11 was 5:45, 12 was 6 and 13 was 5:44. Then a 19 second .1.  Fun race and great course. I was a bit tired from all the races Ive run. A perfect race for Scott! Wow he is on fire my friends! Justin Park is kicking some trash as well! I love running with those guys! Oh and Steve kicked my butt after running a marathon 4 days ago! How the Hell? Very good to see Lindsey Dunkley out and I hope she keeps it up with the talent she has. Not to brag but theres not too many times a lady dominates me in a race. I guess Im bragging for both of us. Excellent work and I hope you still take me up on your offer to be your coach when you qualify for the Olympics. :) It will help me with my book. Great Pr's today from a lot of my friends!
