I got to the start and did a few strides with Scott Keate and saw Rob Murphey.  These guys look so intimidating! :) I had a goal to start as hard as I could and push a 4:50 pace as far as I could. The race started and there was a pack immediately formed of about 6 guys. Then there was my two Herriman High School kids that were tailing behind. I ran side by side with Chuck and Rory for the first two miles. Mile one was 4:45. It was funny, they asked me what my split was and when I said 445 they started cheering. It pshyched me out a bit I have to admit. lol Mile 2 was 5:05 and this is where the high school pack dominated me. I got passed by two groups. So I was behind the third pack.  I stayed this way the rest of the race. I missed mile 3 time but mile 4 was 20:46. So I was averaging 5:30 pace there. Mile 5 was 26.42 So I was fading pretty good there. I came in at 31:30 So Im guessing I wouldve hit about 33:10ish.  I followed Ben and Scott off the course and everyone behind me followed suit. We shaved 2 blocks off so we figured about .25 was taken off. A bit disheartening at the finish when I saw my time but I will take it. I believe I won Masters overall but its yet to be determined. Not for certain right now. I may be dq'ed who knows.

To the Officer that sent Scott and Ben the wrong way Iplease keep your language cleanin your general direction!

Nice job venting your anger by the means of bodily release! You crack me up! Impressive race and masters win!

From Rob Murphy on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 12:34:04 from 24.10.249.165

Either way, that's a great time Walter. Good race.

Comes out to 33:08 for 10k.

From Walter on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 14:54:02 from 97.185.107.85

Well rob came the same way as me so what should I do with the money?

From MarkP on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 15:06:49 from 65.130.127.40

Tithing or beer...your choice.

From Walter on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 15:10:00 from 97.185.107.85

Omg funny! I will lose some serious points if I don't give a little tithing. Especially on a Mormon Holliday. The beer thing is just between us.

From Rob on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 15:14:54 from 206.71.84.68

Pay your tithing first and then buy Rob a beer with the rest.

From Walter on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 15:19:19 from 97.185.107.85

Ok Rob,I owe you a beer! A tall boy! Or whatever you call it. I wouldn't know right?

From Rob Murphy on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 15:36:50 from 24.10.249.165

I thought it was a State of Utah holiday. Or is it the same thing?

totally a bummer to go off course...so what's the news on placement...or farting causing any harm to an officer??

From catherine on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 19:58:05 from 98.202.112.38

Congratulations on a great race! And you should totally find that officer andplease keep your language cleanat him.

From Walter on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 20:16:41 from 24.2.69.110

Rob, you're the history teacher! I was amazed listening to you in Boston. Who needs a tour guide?

Allie, you did great as well! It was a muggy day.

Msimona, thank you! I appreciate that.

Julie, I'm sure they would find some ticket to give me in salt lake city for farting on a cop. They need money to keep up with Mayor Becker.

Catherine, I ran back on the course and asked a few of them which one it was. Lol

From scottkeate on Wed, Jul 25, 2012 at 08:43:18 from 216.49.181.254

Great race, Walter! It is always good to see you.

I apologize for not taking a closer look at the course map before running--it would have saved a whole slew of runners from going off course.

Nice job Walter!
