I went to the Highland 10k race put on by Fleet foot and did a 4 mile warmup with Bec, then I ran the 10k race as a bandit and it didnt look as though there was anyone there so I planned on just taking it slow and seeing if anyone would be fast. I did a 5:57, 5:56, 5:47 for the first 3 miles. There was a guy that was with me for the first 3 miles and there was a turn and he asked if anyone was behind us. I told him nope and then told him I was a bandit so he would get the official win! He got excited and then I told him I was going to try to push my pace faster. He said he didnt think he could do it but tried and he was doing a good job but i distanced myself by a half a minute. I got to mile 5 and felt like I was at the end of the marathon and faded a bit but such is life. I did a 5:30, 5:41, 5:55 for my last 3 miles and then sinnce I was running bandit I didnt know what to do with the last .2 miles so I slowed to almost a walk to let the guy behind me catch up and then just ran into the finish but didnt go through the shoot. It was a brisk morning. I then ran 3 more as a cool down and my legs are pretty tired.

Shame on you, el Bandito! At least you let the official guy win.

From Walter on Sat, Oct 17, 2009 at 15:43:04 from 76.27.15.208

yeah, I asked the race director to see if hed comp me and I wouldnt accept the 50 dollars for the prize. He told me no. The entrance was 30 bucks, so I figured if I paid and won then I made 20 bucks and it was a certificate to his store Fleet Foot which is 20+ dollars per shoe more than I can get them for anyways. It was a well thought out plan. :)

From Bec on Sat, Oct 17, 2009 at 16:47:16 from 67.177.35.60

Nice run today. Fleet Feet does some great races.

From Jon on Sat, Oct 17, 2009 at 19:07:00 from 75.169.159.133

Bandit! I'm not going to claim knowing you anymore!

From Cody on Sat, Oct 17, 2009 at 22:38:49 from 67.161.250.22

Shame on you! But nice running anyway. Esp 1 week after SGM. I am sure you felt that in your legs.

From Teena on Sat, Oct 17, 2009 at 23:29:31 from 67.177.20.13

What are you doing putting this in writing?? Now there is a paper trail!!! You criminal!!! :)

From Ashbaker on Sat, Oct 17, 2009 at 23:40:27 from 76.23.56.75

This could start a movement..

From JulieC on Sun, Oct 18, 2009 at 10:09:39 from 216.160.224.3

sgm was two weeks ago but who's counting? I haven't run a fast mile since.

From JulieC on Sun, Oct 18, 2009 at 10:10:03 from 216.160.224.3

oh and great bandit running to yah!!!

From Walter on Sun, Oct 18, 2009 at 22:17:16 from 76.27.15.208

Bec, it was a well marked course and pretty competitve huh? That lady that won was so serious and she even intimidated me! I should do what she did at the start of my races. Get my competition psyched out.

Jon, I thought you were in retirement. Your not thinking of coming out for a change of the crown are you?

Steve, I cant afford races anymore I swear its killing me. haha

Julie, it was a great test of those flabby legs of mine. haha Is it so bad to run Bandit? Am I a bad person? lol

From Walter on Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 00:31:42 from 76.27.15.208

Cody, Ill go look at how your race went.

Teena, I totally missed your post here. Its not so bad is it to admit to my shortcomings.

From JulieC on Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 13:36:30 from 207.224.216.61

Of course not unless you are so under the radar that you even ride up on the buses provided....no comment.

From Ashbaker on Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 13:53:51 from 76.23.56.75

Yeah, I know what you mean.. I understand that they are not cheap to put on. But if you could just get rid of the liability issue;(insurance) somehow. Also, lose the stupid frills, raffles, and tech shirts that so many people expect then you could probably have an affordable event.

From Ashbaker on Mon, Oct 19, 2009 at 13:55:36 from 76.23.56.75

I know one thing, I WILL NOT! pay over a hundred dollars for these big city marathon events that's for sure.

From Walter on Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 00:32:49 from 76.27.15.208

Julie! Wow, sounds like you have a bit of experience on this subject. lol Do tell. haha

Steve, I really need to see if all these races are tax deductible! I mean we are paying to a lot of charities. we could use all the kick back we can get.

From Kelli on Wed, Oct 21, 2009 at 18:13:38 from 71.219.97.106

Can you place if you are a bandit? Too bad you did not pay for the race, you might have won something.

From Bec on Thu, Oct 22, 2009 at 00:31:09 from 67.177.35.60

Have been running this week?

From Walter on Thu, Oct 22, 2009 at 00:50:10 from 76.27.15.208

Kelli, Nope! unless they let you give them money at the finish which is highly unlikely. I shouldnt have even gone into the finish. It irritated him a bit but I dont care.

Bec, yes ive been running in my mind and through my friends minds!

From Adam RW on Sat, Oct 24, 2009 at 22:41:05 from 67.186.226.36

Your ability to race is truly amazing.

From Walter on Mon, Oct 26, 2009 at 23:33:49 from 76.27.15.208

Adam Ive had my downer races too. Thanks for that and Ill see you out and about.

From Adam RW on Tue, Oct 27, 2009 at 10:07:52 from 155.101.152.103

Completely understood. Enjoy the peak while you have it. What amazes me about you and others like you is the volume you can race during a year. Here I am with three races over the entire year, sounds more like a typical month for you :)
