I ran this morning starting out at 5:40 am. I reloaded the software on my garmin watch and its working now exept its not registering my miles right.  It was working fine while I was running and when I tried loading it to the computer something happened and it wont tell me my times at all. weird!  I ran a total of 15.5 and it was good to see all the people out running this morning!  My legs are still in denial from Boston so im going to do some serious sodium intake this week and try to get them stretched out as much as I can.

I saw you have used the lastest versions of the garmin. I would like to get one, but I don't have a heart monitor. Would you suggest the garmin with the heart monitor or one without? Which garmin would you suggest?

From Walter on Sun, May 11, 2008 at 00:45:12

I like the new one best the 405. Im not really into concentrating on my heart rate so much so the 305 ive had has never even been used with the heart rate monitor.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement. So far this is a great community. Your times are like, several steps beyond mine. And there are plenty of slow runners in the NE--I even win occasional 5k's here. I feel like all of the fast runners are in the outdoors/fitness mecas of Colorado and California. But really almost anywhere I can go I can find good competition at my level (even my hometown in alabama has a few low 17min 5kers). I am gonna get the garmin 405 w/heart rate monitor but I am waiting till I start my marathon base training (a lot on trails) to keep the excitement going. I am so used to psyching myself up for track workouts now that not having them could make me relax in my running. Once my marathon specific workouts (daniels style: lots of tempo and marathon pace mixed in to long runs) start I am sure I will be able to harness the same fire I do for track workouts. Good luck with your super high goals!
