I worked out this morning with the Bingham Buttkickers (what a great name)  I feel like I should have a leather jacket with a comb! We did 3 5k tempo runs and I got to know a few more people like Julie and Cheryl who is not Debbie!  Michelle and Kelli and of course Jody.  I know I asked others their names but forgive my ignorance in remembering.  I forget my own kids' names just so you have an idea how I am.  I felt pretty good today, it was very dark at the start!

I'm glad you like our name. Not everyone does, some are squeamish about the word "butt." Sorry for all those who are squeamish about seeing it in print. And I'm glad you came again today. Hopefully our workouts are somewhat challenging. One day we'll have you design a workout and you can really kick our butts, I mean glutes.

I thought you had misspelled "Butte" :) hehe... that is a great name!

From w on Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 18:01:16

Yes I have a great butte! lol you have to look close but its there!

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 18:03:31

You are so good---I can not even remember who anyone was. I was still sleeping.

Thanks for sticking with me for the first 5k, I know it was hard to run so fast, but you did well. I am quite impressed with how you kept up with me, not many people can do that! I will be waiting for my yogurt payment---I like it in the blender with a banana and a bunch of strawberries!!!

You have to be pretty tricky to catch me off guard Cheryl! Remember I work construction. I even bodly know the spanish swear words from working with 6 or so guys from Mexico. Ive accidentally put a few swear words on her I think inadvertenly and Lucia has scorned me for it. Right Lucia? I dont have a trucker mouth, maybe more like a runners mouth.

Kelli, you definately got my heart rate up so I could sustain a good pace on the second and third 5k's. Wasnt that fun!? Dont worry about not knowing anyone, I already mixed Cheryl up plus it was dark this morning so you can use that as a great excuse. Tell your husband to try coming on tuesday for the track workout. You cant get lost when your all on the track. I dont know why, but I freakin live for speed workouts.

From Kelli on Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 18:27:27

You freakin' love speedwork because you are freakin' crazy!!!

My husband and I discussed the whole "running is not good for you" thing this afternoon as I traveled back from the funeral (which sucked, by the way). He must have read the same article that someone posted in the discussion forum. Anyway, I have to say that it is good for the heart, the cholesterol, the weight (provided you stay away from chocolate mint shakes and chocolate mint brownies---one of which I had yesterday and one today!), and so on. And, it probably keeps you younger. But, I think there are just some people that have bad knees and hips and it hurts no matter what! And, I am one of them! My blood pressure went down (which is good), my weight goes down when i eat right, but I think it will always hurt my knees and my hip. However, I can take it, I am tough!

Ive got to tell you Kelli that I have run a few years and injuries come and go. I watch my siblings from my family suffer from back pain, neck pain, leg and joint pain and not one of them has put in 1 mile of running. Ive been hit by a car and lost use of my legs, broken my pelvis in 23 yes 23 places, Ive hemoraged both my knees and shattered my right knee cap, Blown my lower discs in my back and that was all from the car. I have come back and worked a very physical job and run many miles and feel like it contributes to my healthy joints. I feel like those with arthritis have major problems because of the lack of mobility or excercise. My personal opinion! If I can go through all that then anyone else can follow. I always laugh when I get a check up at the doctors and they take my pulse. They freak out! The nurses have to check it twice sometimes. Your right on the some people just have to sustain a bit more pain then others. You are awesome. To brave out an early morning run with strangers and do so well is proof! Well done!

OOHH!!! I see I have now been added to your favorites!!! I am so LUCKY!!!

I know in the long run that running will be good for me. When I just did 3-5 miles 6 days a week I felt great, but I had really high blood pressure (a genetic problem I will always fight, I am sure) and it was not helping. When I bumped up my running my blood pressure went down and I am GREAT now. Funny thing, my heart rate is HIGH---I think they probably worry when they take mine! Those cuffs tightening on my arm freak me out, so my heart rate shoots up. I try to control it, but I can not. I do not even dare to use the blood pressure things in the store because I am afraid they will keep tightening on my arm and I will DIE! I have a lot of fears...

Anyway, after the marathon last year I just kind of quit because I got sick of the pain. NOT THIS YEAR! I am sticking with it, being smart, going slow, and hopefully I will stop hurting soon.

I too hate the blood pressure machine. That made me laugh. Im suprised I havent heard a comedian use that in their routine! I believe you when you say you will stick it out
