I met Danielle up at Daybreak this morning and we ran 12 miles around the area in two different loops. We were running a 8:30 pace and the weather trickled a bit on us. The wind picked up about 7:30 and we ran from 6 am to 7:50.

Then I loaded up the family and went to Jordan landing for the 5k and 10k and 1 mile kids race. I was planning on running the 10k and 5k but it was raining and people were late so they started the 5k only 15 minutes after. I saw some familiar faces. I saw Mark (huans32) there and talked to him and his new bride christy. I also saw Nancy from the BBK group and her daughter. By the time our race started it started to pour. It was really coming down! Our race was nice, there were the usual quick high schoolers there to push the pace early. I did a 5:04 first mile and I believe it was mismarked. If it wasnt, i wouldve pr'd for sure running that fast. There wasnt a 2nd mile marker and I had a pretty good lead on the 2nd place runner. My garmin is lost so i used my cheapo timex watch and forgot to stop the time so I guessed a modest time, it couldve been faster.  I won the overall and I think Mark took 2nd in his age. Good job!  I love local races. they are so fun!  My oldest daughter got 2nd in her age and 2nd oldest daughter took 3rd in age. Misty took 6th in her age. I then took Bailey 7 to the start line and ran the mile kids run. She took off way fast (like her father) I had to yell for her to slow down and she did and i explained that the kids that were way ahead of her would get tired and walk. After the 1/2 mile I was right and my 7 year old was passing 10 -12 year olds that were walking. I showed her how starting a little slower will help her finish stronger. She took 1st for the girls which she had a girl sprint by her in the last 100 yards and Bailey picked it up and beat her. haha It was cute. I won a Trophy and the person on it is a girl so I gave it to Bailey.

Great job at the race. Your girls did awesome too. Its got to be in the genes.:) I tried to log my race when I got home and some how lost it and it didnt save. So I will attempt it when I get to work later. I cant believe you did so well in that rain and wind. And all after doing 12 milers before that.:) It was kind of funny listening and talking to a few people that were saying stuff about your jacket and how fast you ran.:)

From Bec on Mon, May 04, 2009 at 10:29:48 from 205.123.38.151

I love that your family ran this race together, that is so cool. Great job on a 5:04 mile, that is smokin' fast in my book.
