Went over to Jordan Landing and did a 1 mile warmup in the rain. I started out really fast, I didnt have my garmin on but I felt like a good 5:20 pace. I looked at the course map before and new there was a turn at the corner of Lowes and when I got to it I saw a sign that said turn right and I did but the cop pacing me went straight. I kept running for about a tenth of a mile and heard him honking to me so I turned around and by the time I got back I was still ahead of the other runners behind me. I sped up to the cop and told him he was going the wrong way. He said just stick with me and youll be fine. I did and I ended up winning it but after the race I told him he went the wrong way and he admitted it so he added a good .25 to the race. I was shocked when I saw my time at 19. I felt like I was really pushing a low 5 pace. I probably was. I wished I wouldve had my garmin on now. I ran my oldest daughter in after and then did a 1 mile race with Bailey my 8 year old. I taught her to pace herself and she did awesome! The kids all sprinted ahead of her and there was about 30 kids ahead of her at .5 mile mark and I showed her how they were slowing down so we picked up the pace and by the .25 miles to go I pushed her hard into 1st place but an older girl just nudged her to out sprint her at the end. I was so proud of her. She did a 8:30! Geez louise!  I awarded her with the trophy I got.

I just talked to a few people with Garmin watches on. One of them said they had 3.6 and some said 3.4 so I figured about a 3.5 would be close to this distance.

Nice job Walter! Bummer about the confused cop, thats always frustrating. Glad you were able to still get the victory anyway.

Nothing like taking wrong turns! The rest of us end up in the back of the pack from stuff like that. Only you would still win it!
