Ok first of all I wanted to thank Logan and his Wife for putting on a great Pasta party!  Its good to put some faces to the names on this blog.  After the party I was driving home to south jordan and my truck broke down and I had to have it towed! the tow truck showed up at 10:30 and my wife showed up at 11 pm.  I raced home and got my stuff together and turned the lights off and the alarm went off.   Hey, Im just telling you how it was!  We got up to the race and I made a game plan to run with Cody.  I have to say his running has really improved since Striders!  Thanks Cody and Ben if you read this for keeping me at a safe pace.  I probably would have tried to push it and stick with Jeff and Chad and I know I would have bombed out because my legs are still not 100% better from Boston.   I felt really good at mile 18 but not as good as Cody.  He put on the gas and gained 200 yards in no time on Ben and myself.  I was still not sure as to try to go after him so I just stuck it out with Ben and he seamed to be struggling and by the 19th mile we were back running together.  At mile 22 Ben got excited and took off with a great pace, I was surprised at it.  Kory wheatly then passed me and really stayed just ahead of me and cody.  I had nothing left and I just tried to not stop, but at 25 I had to try and catch my breath and cody passed me.  I stayed close behind him until the last couple of blocks and he picked up the pace really good.  So I just worked on keeping myself from being passed by anyone else.  I was very light headed at the finish but my legs were way better this race than at Boston.  I will give my body a break next week and do some cross training and then concentrate on building my miles up to 90+ a week.  This race was extremely difficult to run in due to the blistering heat.  My shoulders are fried!  It was good to see everyone at the start and finish and I must say we make a huge presence when we are in the blog/running company atire!

Oh man! I can't believe you were sitting out there waiting for a tow truck the night before a marathon. No fun!

Great job, Walter, and way to be a big part of that dominating presence of super fast bloggers! Congrats!

Great job with the heat and all! Was really good to meet you and talk. Don't give up on SG.

From Cody on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 17:10:42

Way to overcome a bad race at Boston with a much better performance today. I am impressed with your running and it will be a major challenge to keep up with you in future races. Oh, way to finish it up strong, too.

From jtshad on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 18:49:56

Way to run a strong race, especially after such an eventful night.

Great work on running a smart race.

From Jon on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 19:06:18

Man, heck of a bad night last night! I'm glad you had a relatively good race, especially since you are recovering from Boston. Getting some great mileage this summer and then going out slow with us at St. George gives us a good shot at 2:30.

By the way, if you had gone out as slow as me, you definitely could have run a 3:30 negative split. Paul told me that once you run the first half of a marathon very slow and then kill the second half, you will never want to run it another way again. Very true!

By the way, I'm all up for another tripping/apple throwing rivalry!

From James on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 21:46:40

Not too bad for race #50 this year! Sounds like you had a pretty good experience. The heat only felt blistering because it snowed last week!

From Dustin on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 21:50:15

Great job today! Especially with the rough night and then the warm conditions. I'm looking forward to running Wasatch Back with you guys.

From Adam RW- on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 22:11:50

Great race. You are amazing how many races you can pile on the the fire!!!

From Chad on Sat, May 17, 2008 at 23:33:04

Walter--nice effort in your return from Boston. Most people wouldn't even attempt it, but I would expect no less from you! I agree it was a tough race in hard conditions--it seemed to take a toll on everyone at least a bit.

From Superfly on Sun, May 18, 2008 at 12:15:48

Walter your the man. Your going to drop the bomb big time this year in future marathons. Get some rest and get recoverd and then your going to be deadly.

From Walter on Sun, May 18, 2008 at 14:21:35

Clyde- Way to finish a rough run! Those rollers really tear at your calves huh?! I hope to be more competitive soon.

Chad, I wish i would have been in a position to run with you and jeff. what a great race you both had! We have to figure out how to finish like jeff huh! As soon as we can do that, 2:30's wont even be a problem! We'll have to concentrate on 2:20's! Great run!

Adam RW- Im not amazing, just crazy!

Dustin- I cant wait for WBR! Try to get up here and do more races! Keep on truckin brother!

James- I know! Im insane. I guess Im using my saturdays for speed tempo and long runs all in the same day. I call it the loco walter running plan!

Jon- I still dont know what I would've done if an apple was hurled at me at TOU half! I probably would have slowed down or stopped from laughter which was your plan huh!? Keep up the great running. You and cody have some big shoes to fill now that Paul is suffering.

Jeff-I dont know what to say other than wow! I would pay you to teach me how to finish like that. So when can you start?

Cody-- I promised my self I wouldn't cry. Thanks so much for that! what a great team we were pushing each other huh!? I dont know where ben got that booster shot from but it was great to be able to push you and have you push me and ben and kory! Thanks

Josse- Wow, what a great run for extreme heat and killer rollers huh? It was good to meet you and mckenzie and you weren't that far behind us! You and mckenzie are a great running duet! Its good to have someone that close to your times! Now get Mckenzie on this blog so we can kick her butt! No offense mckenzie if your reading this but enough is enough! It took me a year of persuasion and now im sad I didnt listen sooner. You dont even have to post your pretty picture, just a cat or dog will do. jk GET ON IT!

Lybi- Im kind of glad about the horrible night I had because it forced me to start slower. in fact I actually took a couple of miles to catch up to cody and im usually next to sasha at for the first couple. So how are you and James doing? Are you ready to put on that addition to your house for our Del sol team!? Hope all is well! See ya

3 hours of sleep are you kidding me? You did awesome yesterday! It was so nice to meet you and I meant to thank you face to face for posting on my kid's blog, but I guess I can do it here - thank you!

From Walter on Sun, May 18, 2008 at 18:14:12

The name MichelleL no longer is just a name, theres actually a face to go with it! Yes it was good to meet you finally and keep up the good work!
