I am so glad this race is behind me. I made it up to Eden and it was extremely cold and fresh snow was on the road. Very slushy. I started put with a 5.30 pace and quickly new I was in trouble as far as feeling good. Albert Wint came up next to me and we talked a bit and decided that we were in the same boat. We slowed down a lot from a horrible headwind that guy is so hard that we looked like slow motion runners. I havnt run a half in a slow time like this since I've had Mono with no training. The winner from this race last year did a 1.08 and today he got a 1.15 so I do feel a bit at ease from that. I am done with one 10 mile race and 3 half marathons in a row. Now to taper to Boston in 2 weeks. I need a massage in the worst way. I wished I had some deniro to get one. :(

The conditions of the race was just bad. Nice race running on tired legs. I was wondering how you would be able to run so many half week after week. Nice race and I hope you get a massage.

Nice stretch of training! Good luck in Boston (I'll be there as well) and I'm sure your hard work will pay off.

Good job Walt. The stick is the poor mans massage. Rest up for Bean Town.

From Burt on Sun, Apr 04, 2010 at 00:36:29 from 98.177.220.145

Don't look at me. I ain't giving you no massage.

From Walter on Sun, Apr 04, 2010 at 11:31:13 from 206.53.147.10

Matt, I'm thinking and also talking to Terron the winner, that we lost a minute per mile due to the wind. Or about 6 minutes.

Rockness, hopefully ill see you in Boston!

Clyde, it was a repeat of the year you did it up here except several inches of slush on the ground and the wind was about 20mph harder.

Burt, why not? You know we would be at your becon call! Well, to a certain degree I guess.

From Twinkies on Sun, Apr 04, 2010 at 11:36:17 from 67.166.116.191

Nice job Walter. I thought the wind was bad last year. Sounds like it was a lot worse this year.

From Walter on Sun, Apr 04, 2010 at 11:45:00 from 206.53.147.10

Matt, I wouldve rather run up basterd hill then run in those conditions. You could tell how crappy the race was just by looking at eveyone at the finish. Their faces said it all. No won had a smile on there face.

From JamesH on Sun, Apr 04, 2010 at 15:21:30 from 74.211.22.194

Sounds like it was all sorts of fun. Glad it was you and not me running in that. I hate the wind with a passion. Good job sticking it out and have fun in Boston.

From Walter on Sun, Apr 04, 2010 at 23:29:03 from 24.10.169.110

Thanks James, it was my worst half marathon time, worst conditions by far in a race and a long way to go to do it. The only good thing that came out of it was some points on the USATFLDR.

From Jon on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 00:34:24 from 75.169.143.15

That's 3 years in a row the weather has sucked for that race! Nuts! Nice job, anyways, especially given the insane number of races you have been doing.

From Walter on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 01:03:55 from 24.10.169.110

Jon I know, Im so done with those! Its funny because Albert ran Moab with me 2 saturdays ago and then he ran the 25k race last week and I did the Riverton half. We looked like identical twins from doing 3 hard races in a row. The wind sucked the ever living life right out of us. No more being crazy right? I need a break.

From jtshad on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 08:41:25 from 69.20.183.178

Way to go, racer man! Chalk it up to a good training run/prep for Boston!

From Bec on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 11:38:56 from 76.23.55.210

Way to go Walter! You really have been putting down some insanely fast races the last few months. You are Boston bound!

From Walter on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 23:47:42 from 24.10.169.110

Oh I wished I had a pro triathlete to pace me there like you did Jeff! I will look for the display if they do it again this year.

Becca, Im done putting the hurt to myself. Its marathon build up time now. UVM is going to be in my sights for my PR this year.

From runningafterbabies on Mon, Apr 05, 2010 at 23:48:18 from 67.177.9.74

nice race despite the yucky conditions. now your prepared for almost any type of weather!

From Walter on Tue, Apr 06, 2010 at 00:49:02 from 24.10.169.110

Melody, I dont think it could get any worse than those conditions. Haha Thanks. What are your upcoming events?
