Got to the buses and organized the pacers and got their gear together and some instructions.  Then Got the Go Pro cameras out and on 5 of the 10 lucky pace groups. Got on the buses and headed up to the start and I was 20 minutes from starting time. The line to the porta potti was a good 30 or more minutes long so I took off for the bushes. I saw they had a campground so I went to look for a bathroom there. Walla! A good one with no wait. I did my business and paper work and then headed for the start.  I should have stripped down to a singlet but I chickened out so I had my singlet over the shirt.  I took off at the start and the pack of 4 fast runners seperated from us pretty quick. I stayed about 5-10 seconds behind them to mile 1 when I did a 5:19.  I felt like I was pushing hard for this time. I honestly was expecting 5:08 or so. I kind of fell back to 6th postion till a few miles and then Albert and another guy passed me and I used them as a wind shield for a bit and then passed the one up to get to 8th overall. I pretty much stayed like that the whole way.  I love the turn around mile 9.5 with the horses! So cool! They love to run along side of the field with you. So cool! I then started falling back off pace a bit. I was struggling for a 5:45 the last 3 miles. I had one mile that was 5:54. Steve Anderson was awesome! He mounted a go pro camera to his jeep and was driving up and down the course cheering us on.  At mile 11 he ran with me for about a quarter mile. I was extremely tired at that point. I worked to hard this week with concrete work and long hours.  Body is not used to that.  Got all the pacers in on time and they had a blast carrying the cameras! I cant wait to edit it into a clip!  This event was part of the USATFLDR circuit so I won cashola for 1st in masters.  It was great weather and the winner hit a 1:07 on the course. Smoking fast! I find it pretty difficult.

I'd have to say I think you have about the best running economics of anyone I watched up there yesterday. Pretty smooth. I'll ge you some video of that race sometime.

Good race.

Cool report Walter. I will probably race this one next year. I'm doing Provo City Half as the next jaunt. :)

Good to see you again. Having cameras on the paces is cool.

Steve, I found myself speeding up as well as Albert as you passed us and pulled over. I'd like you to make a copy for me so we can make a video of this race. What it's like to be in the front pack, what it's like to chase the front pack and what it's like to pace.

Spencer that's great! Good luck.

Matt, it was great to see you up there! I may need to find an editor for this video I'm making.

I'll have some of the clips put together this afternoon. i didn't do that great a job. I learned a lot about how to NOT run the camera.

Steve, ill have to call you. I'm having a hard time. Do you have editing software?

From Christie on Mon, Apr 08, 2013 at 06:26:53 from 74.213.202.246

High five and another great race for you. I want to see the clips once you have them edited.

For Go Pro you can always watch your videos using VLC, a freeware viewer. Go Pro has a free software program called Cineform that you can download from their site that will convert any file to AVI or MP3. Then you can use any easy program such as Windows Moviemaker to edit. Anyone who edits footage at all won't use any of these because it downgrades your HD footage. Honestly my computer can't handle the editing of HD anyway and it's hard to wait on downloading so I use these programs.

I will look into it Steve. Thanks!
