Wow, I am glad this course is over and done with. Good riddens! I did a no no and ran to far last night. I shouldnt have done that. Bad move on my part but my miles were lacking for the week. I have an IT band problem in my right leg and hate to announce it before a race because I usually can ignore pain in a race anyways. I was just to tired today. I started out fine and felt great. I did a 5:40 first mile and 5:07 2nd mile. it was a blurr from then. Steve passed me after the second mile and I kept him in my sites and tried to muster up some strength on the hill I call the bastard hill. I hit it at a comfortable speed and just took it easy. I was to tired for it today. Every Hill that came up I creeped up to Steve but he pushed on the downhill. I did this course in 59:30 last year and thought I could come in the same time but not today. I did go into this race conservatively because I want to try and get a 1:15 or better in Moab next saturday. I try not to let races like this get to me. So chalk it up and get back to work. My only goal I got today was to outrun the weather and as soon as I was finished it started up.

Nice solid effort anyway. It sounds to me like that course is a "character builder". I toyed with heading up there today, but opted for a hard workout instead. Take care of that IT band! It's early in the year and a little time off won't kill you.

From jtshad on Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 13:41:46 from 69.20.183.178

I agree with Rob, nice effort on a hard course when you just weren't feeling it. Keep it up.

From Paul on Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 15:19:02 from 174.23.180.177

Nice job. Hopefully I'll see you for the half in a few weeks. Be careful with that IT band.

From Jon on Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 15:24:51 from 75.169.152.81

Nice race, even if it didn't go as well as last year. You'll bounce back next week!

From Walter on Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 16:17:22 from 206.53.153.240

Thanks Rob. Character builder is a great description!

Jeff you have to be super prepared to try and rock that course.

Jon it just wasn't the same without you and codster there.

Paul, ill be there and feeling better than I do right now. Lol

From Steve on Sat, Mar 13, 2010 at 20:31:38 from 67.172.242.81

Nice run today. You are such a hill runner. I felt you gaining on me every hill. I have no idea why I am so stinking slow up the hills. Seems I can run down them! (who can't..) I wish I could get down there and run Canyonlands with you guys. I love that place.

From Smooth on Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at 00:08:18 from 174.23.198.220

WAY to outrun the storm! You done GOOD! You're always speedy and impressive in my book! :)

From Walter on Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at 01:41:15 from 24.10.169.110

Matt, Im just glad its over.

Burt, thank you my distant runner! I mean distance runner.

Teena Marie, thank you. Its not so good. Im in worse pain today. Did the Ibuprofen and iced it and stretched and it hurts when I stretch. Ill sleep it off and try it again tomorrow.

Steve, I wanted to blast up those hills but my give a dam was busted today. Canyonlands is a great getaway race like Bryce Canyon. I love those two races.

Smooth, I guess I did outrun this ugliness that hit us hard. Who wouldve thought we'd be back in winter conditions after the great weather we have had. Dag nabbit!

Nice run. I was debating on running this one or the rex lee. Sounds like you made the better choice. GL at Moab. Maybe I'll see you there!

From MichelleL on Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at 10:47:57 from 71.35.238.210
