I ran a 2 mile warmup with Paul, Jon, and Cody and I didnt really feel like running.  I can usually get my mind set to feeling like racing even when Im sick.  I started the race a bit fast but felt good and in control.  There was 2 young kids ahead of me and they were running about a 5:10 pace and I wasnt sure if they were running the 5k or 10k so I kept myself close to them in case they passed the turn around point for the 5k.  Sure enough they did and I found myself all by myself and in a head wind.  My times after that suffered a bit from boredom and wind. I hate wind.  It wasnt too bad but enough to slow me to a 5:55 pace.   After the turn around I saw Jon and Paul side by side and they were about 200 yards behind me I was expecting a barrage of apples from them but luckily there wasnt any trees along the way.   I felt good on the turn around with a bit of wind to my back but it wasnt enough to feel a great push.  I made it to mile 4 1/2 and Jon caught me and passed me  and then came the down hill which he is so good at.  I told myself to try and stay with him and I tried my darndest and after that came a quick steep uphill and I started to close on him but by the time I hit the top it flattened out and he took off.  I couldnt close the gap and every surge I had he had also so I finished barely ahead of Paul for 2nd place.  I really wanted to try and hit a 5 minute mile on one of my miles but I was too tired.  I rested too long on my camp trip and it showed.  My miles were  1)5.20, 2)5.57, 3.1)(actually was 1.1 miles) 6.06, 4.2)(actually 1.1 again) 6.01, 5.2)5.46, 6.2)5.38

Congrats on the AD win! You ran a tough race and benefited quite a bit. That's what I tell myself - when I don't want to do it and it is hard, that is when we benefit. Anyways, great job!

Thanks Jody, that was the cheepest race and I got a 15 dollar certificate as a prize for runners Id. And a free pancake, eggs, ham and hashbrown breakfast! I liked the way they handed out the raffle prizes at the end too! They put them all on the table and just called peoples names one after another and the quicker you got up, the better your prize was because you could pick whatever you wanted. It was slim pickins by the time I got up. But all in all was a blast!

Good job- you really ran strong and I was doubting for much of the race if I'd ever catch up to you. Sounds like we better stay away from all fruit farms, since both of us have thoughts of apples flying...

It was good to race against you- see you in a few more weeks.

Great time and strong run. That Jon guy is tough, especially on downhills like you said.

Keep running strong.

Hey Jon, I could tell you were worried about a last minute surge by me but it just wasnt going to happen then. Wear your Bell bike helmet for TOU! I swear vengence! If not by beating you in running, then by an apple to the head! jk Im a crappy shot thats why I dont play baseball.

Jeff-- Im telling you he's got a strong kick and downhills, watch out! You ran a mean downhill also in WBR! We couldnt keep up to you on those switchbacks with our van! Thanks for the comment.
