Ran from the north. Daybreak lake parking lot around the lake 3.3 miles with Danielle. Then finished around by the temple and back to the parking lot making 6 miles. It was real brisk and wind from the south was cold. I'm not going to glamorize it or lie. I was cold.

Did a 3 mile warmup run with the BBK group. Then a 5 mile run with Scott, Julie and Dean. I went off on my own after the second mile. I have a lot of pain in the back of my right knee. It feels like bone on bone. Also have issues in my back. I hold a lot of tension in my upper thighs. (couples retreat)

Ok First of all let me give some advice to you about eating Jalepeno' Poppers the night before the Marathon.  They are as hot coming out as they are going in!!!  I barely made it to the buses in time which was a bit stressfull but I made it and sat next to my neighbor Greg and Burt and Becca was behind him.  We made it up and they barely gave us time to use the bathrooms before we took off. I saw a Kenyan runner, and Nick McCoombs and new I probably had no chance of winning. We started  the race off all 4 wide running and the actual winner of the marathon slowed down after the 1st mile which was a 5:38 and I felt really good! It was quite a downhill push to help us out. after the second mile the Kenyan started to push the pace and Nick held onto him and i slowed down which is good because my third mile would have been close to 5 even. I stayed about 100 feet behind Nick till mile 5 and started feeling like I had to go to the bathroom.  I looked behind me to see where the 4th place runner was and he was quite a ways behind me. I used the porta potti at mile 6 and it slowed me down and as soon as I heard the 4th place runner I was out of the POP and tried to catch him but he started to push his pace and Nick was probably a good 1/4 mile ahead of me by then and I watched him actually catch him and pass him up. I thought I would see him burnt out down the stretch but he actually won the marathon in 2:19! sheesh! After I realized I had no chance at the top 3 I considered slowing down and seeing if I could help Tyler try to hit a 2:49 like he wanted to. I made it to the 13 mile mark and used the bathroom again and when I came out there still was no one in sight behind me. I made it to the next aid station which by the way were unatended, I had to fill my own cup up with water or gatorade hahah. So every aid station was sort of a buffet stop for me. Lets see, do I want to try a banana or some gu's?  I wished they had some chicken or maybe some Ice cream. That would be nice!  I made it to mile 16 and saw my buddy Kimball walking from the half marathon and I grabbed his shoulder and startled him and stopped and walked with him for about a minute. We were in a canyon at that point and I could see behind me about a half a mile and while I walked with him I watched for anyone to come around the corner but there wasnt anyone so I kept talking and then took off and made it through the windy uphill canyon and got my legs to start moving and then another hill would hit me and then down hill and then mile 21 there was a long hill that lasted a little over a half mile and I told myself to make it to the top and I break for a sec. I made it and then didnt want to stop so kept pushing myself. By then I was in the midst of a lot of half marathon runners and it was a battle to pass them. They were running 8 minute pace and it was as if my body would try matching them.  I really had a hard time trying to get through the last 4 miles. I would cheer on the half marathoners on purpose just so I would get a little returned recognition or cheers back. I needed anything like that. It was a hard marathon to finish. I bet that the winner of this race couldve hit close to 2:10 on SGM course! I think it was a little too close to run from SGM also.  It was great weather and a cool place to spend the weekend, even though I stayed in St. George. I want to give a shout out to Lisa, Josse, Dane, Becca, Burt, Greg, Nick, Redrooster, Amber, Jose, and whoever else was there that I saw that I forgot to mention. lol Very fun to be there.  Um yes, I forgot to mention the most sought after Guy/Gal running team, Tyler and Kellie.
