Picked up James and went up to Weber college and did a warmup with Jon and Cody.  It was around 23 degrees according to my car and I forgot my hat and gloves. The race started fine, we were in a group and then James took a good lead and I stuck behind Cody and Tim. I think I was about 8th then.  I was breathing extremely hard and found it difficult to relax. I made it to the 3rd mile just behind Cody and Tim. Every little hill we hit I found myself drifting back. That frustrated me, but I wanted to see how Cody would run up mile 5 hill "the bastard" I saw Tim starting to drift from him a bit but didnt think Id even catch him. It got real steep and I started getting closer to Tim and he was having a hard time up it and I passed him. I could hear him on my heals and managed to stay ahead. I saw another runner who I started to catch on the hill also and as soon as it hit the top he flew down the back part and I couldnt catch him. We then got some sunshine which felt like an angel pissing on me. It was awesome. Im not into that sort of weird stuff  by the way. Just to clear that up. We then did a cool down on the route to make a total of 14+miles.

Who cares about how you did with such an awesome race report, even though I will suspend judgment on whether you are into the weird stuff. Good job.

From Andy on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 14:59:07

Are you calling Cody or the hill "the bastard"? I know both of them and only consider one of them to be that. Great job on the race.

From Burt on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 15:27:54

Say what now? Do angels really have a circulatory system that needs to be cleasned of waste particles?

From Kelli on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 15:45:30

Scott says, "HE'S BACK!!! He is a fast son of a gun. I should have raced him when he was hurt!"

That is "our" comment today. Scott is helping me blog!

GREAT JOB!!!! You did awesome.

From Kelli on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 15:46:42

Oh, and Burt, I love you in the most platonic way! You crack me up and make me smile every day!! EVERY DAY!

(Scott watched me type that, so it is okay, promise.)

From James W on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 15:52:21

That has to be the first time I have ever heard of a comment like "felt like an angel pissing on me" - that, in and of itself, makes your race report worth reading. Oh, and by the way, you did a great job too. Keep up the good work, and leave some juice for Del Sol - you don't want me catching you!

From Burt on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 16:16:43

Hey, the feeling is mutual. If you want funny, go see what I posted on Cody's blog. He's not going to know how to take it.

From Walter on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 17:10:21

Good one Paul!

Andy I called the hill that, if I called Cody that he would open up a whole new can of hurt on me. haha

Kelli, you need to get Scott his own blog. Then we'll talk turkey.

Burt, I heard that expression at the finish line of a marathon. The man said did you see that stand of Oranges on mile 24? It was like an angel was pissing in my mouth. haha

James, Im going to leave some juice for Friday and Saturday. your team might catch us but Ill make sure we take the lead back when Misty Scott Kelli and I get up to bat. haha

Oh dont forget our secret weapon.

From Jon on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 17:14:08

Nice job, Walter, and your blog is still crazy. You tied my time from last year, so I expect you to tie or beat the 10 mile time in a few weeks.

From Walter on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 17:21:16

Im too over zealous! I want it all right now! Im mad how out of shape I feel. I only missed 2 freekin months. Imagine if I went a year without running?

From cody on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 18:12:18

Walter -

I have been called worse.....And do not disagree with either...

I am not so sure about the angel encounter though, but your halucinations were in line with your performance....(crazy).

From Walter on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 20:19:23

Cody, I wouldn't call you that. At least not to your face. haha jk I wouldn't even say it behind your back. After that hill I was hallucinating for sure. Have a good vacation. Thanks for giving up your spot because it would take an act of the big guy to try and shave all the time you've licked me on!

From Michelle N. on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 21:10:57

Wowwie, nice race Walter! Those hill repeats that Peggy has been torturing us with are paying off for you at least!

From Walter on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 21:20:37

Michelle, I definitely need more of them. Time for the Waltster to step things up a notch. haha

From Michelle N. on Sat, Feb 21, 2009 at 21:23:54

Waltster huh? Whatever, you are kickin' some major butt!

From Nancy on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 09:49:25

Good job Walter. I bet your hands froze in 23 degree weather without gloves. Was the course snowy at all. My daugher lives by Weber State and they have gotten a lot of snow. Their classes were even cancelled one day last week because of the snow.

From Walter on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 10:15:42

Nancy my hands were definitely cold and they did get alot of snow up there but the roads were almost all ice free. There was a bit of ice though. The parking lot had 20' high walls of snow that were pushed from plows.

From Lucia on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 15:03:19

Wall-e, you are awesome!!!

From Walter on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 22:57:34

Thanks Lucia, I hope I can run the MCM this year!

From Rachel on Sun, Feb 22, 2009 at 23:33:33

Walter, oh I will always think of you now when I get a warm 'burst' of sunshine :) I think you are amazing! I really need to find one of those harness things to help YOU train on those hills- then you'll never have to cuss out another hill ever! You'll just be glad you're not dragging me up it. Great job on the race.

From Walter on Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 22:53:21 from 75.162.96.29

You know what Rachel, Seriously, go find a bungee and I say we do it! If anything I can get a great laugh out of it. We have to hire a film crew though. This can be my big break. lol (break something)
