I went to the parktrail on 98th with the BBK group and we warmed up with about 4.5 miles. Then we did 2x2.35 mile tempo runs.  My first set was I think around a 7:30 pace. My second 2.36 miles were 5:53 for the first mile, 6:06 for the second mile and 2:08 for the .35 mile. It felt good but I felt myself fading after the 2nd mile. I finished with a cool down to make 10 full miles. I forced myself not to look at the temp on my truck when I got out. That way I couldnt have any excuses! Thats all Ive got to say about that.

Well, it was nice while it lasted :) Way to run Forrest, no excuses!

From Walter on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 10:11:38

Oh Lu, you crack me up! So I hear our new president is bashing DC for taking a school day off for ice? haha You guys sound wimpy out there. Im gonna get it for that comment huh? Ok I understand you dont have salt spreaders or gravel spreaders at your disposal.

From Lucia on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 10:29:49

It is ridiculous that they close everything when there's a little ice, absolutely insane! A nightmare for parents too, cause if both of you work and the kids have no school, one of the parents has to stay with the kids. I've been in DC for almost 5 years and lived all over the place, and never once had big problems to get to work. You just have to plan for a little delays cause people drive slower, that's all... Very frustrating. Don't understand.

From Walter on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:11:15

Yeah, We have to have 3 feet of snow to even consider it. Then they delay for an hour or two in the morning and end up forcing the kids out into it.

From Jody on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:28:17

Funny about the temperature. I over heat myself on the drive to group so that when I get out it feels nice........ The things we do for running.

From Walter on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:32:09

Yeah I do too Jody! I turn the heated seat on and crank up the heater. Today was a good run for me! I actually worked up a sweat! Rare for me in the cold.

From Bec on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:38:29

Walter this is random. Where was that picture taken? Was it at Williamsburg in Virginia? If so, I have been there too. Cool place. If not, just consider me crazy.

From Walter on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 11:57:48

Bec, It was taken in Salem Massachusetts at the house of Seven Gables that Nathaniel Hawthorne the author lived in and wrote a book about. Lots of history out there. Ive been to Williamsburg too. Its fun to see all the sites from our history books.

Oh by the way I considered you crazy! haha

From Bec on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 13:59:41

Yep, I am pretty crazy. It looks like at place at Williamsburg, I swear!

Cross training? Hmmm, no thanks.

From Kelli on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 17:12:05

I do the opposite, keep my car cold so I will not feel the huge difference when I get out of the car! But today was not that bad! (WHO would have ever imagined that I would say that????)

From Rachel on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 18:43:42

I was only cold on the first tempo run. The warm up was good, but I froze on that first S! What gives huh? I had a great run this morning as well. I'm an overheater before I get out of the car as well! Great tempo run Walter, someday I will keep up with you (at least for 50 yds or so!).

From Darren232323 on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 19:02:56

Hi Walter! Thanks for the greeting on my blog page. I am from Windsor Ontario Canada. Great marathon times! How many miles are you doing per week?

From walter on Thu, Jan 29, 2009 at 20:39:17

Bec, thats why your on here for us to bug you into submission! haha Well no guilty feeling here. ;)

Kelli, no complaining coming your way? What the heck? It was good chasing Scott down and vice versa.

Rachel, you do just fine! You will be kicking butt with the miles your throwing in right now. You watch!

Darren, Your from Canada eh? haha (im the typical comedian huh?) Right now Im getting my mileage built up to 80+ but Im probably going to be at about 60 this week. I should be up to 80 in a month.
