I went down to Marvs and did a one hour spin class and then did 6.25 miles on the treadmill. I did 1 mile at 7mph, 1 mile at 8% incline at 7mph, 1 mile no incline at 9 mph. 1/2 mile 10% incline, 1/2 mile 9mph no incline, 1 mile 10 mph and the last mile at 11 mph. 3 minutes of walking. I was going to swim and saw Paul in the locker room and got talking to him and by the time I went to swim the lanes were taken and the other ladies were doing there water aerobics. So no swim.

I met at Pauls house up here in Smithfield and ran over to a canyon and around smithfield. We even met Carson Cambell who is the coach for Preston HS. He ran a few miles with us as he was running with his students. It was 25 degrees at the start and waed up to about 40.

Took my scouts to the Olympic Oval in Kearns and had them do their laps for their rank advancement. I did a warmup and did 4x800s with 1 and a half minute recovery in between.  I saw Demetrios gang there doing 400s. I saw Bill and a few others I always recognize. I did a cool down after my run and then sprinted a 400 with my scouts.

Wow, I am glad this course is over and done with. Good riddens! I did a no no and ran to far last night. I shouldnt have done that. Bad move on my part but my miles were lacking for the week. I have an IT band problem in my right leg and hate to announce it before a race because I usually can ignore pain in a race anyways. I was just to tired today. I started out fine and felt great. I did a 5:40 first mile and 5:07 2nd mile. it was a blurr from then. Steve passed me after the second mile and I kept him in my sites and tried to muster up some strength on the hill I call the bastard hill. I hit it at a comfortable speed and just took it easy. I was to tired for it today. Every Hill that came up I creeped up to Steve but he pushed on the downhill. I did this course in 59:30 last year and thought I could come in the same time but not today. I did go into this race conservatively because I want to try and get a 1:15 or better in Moab next saturday. I try not to let races like this get to me. So chalk it up and get back to work. My only goal I got today was to outrun the weather and as soon as I was finished it started up.

I came into this race with low expectations. My body is a mess and my miles for the week were horrid. Maybe I needed a break. It was about 35 degrees st the start. I started out comfortable and mile one was 5.23. I felt like a million bucks and kept it easy. I was in 7th position behind BJ Christiansen. Mile 2 was 55.41 still feeling good. 3 was 5.39, 4 was 5.52. I saw BJ make a surge and pass Albert Wint and a couple guys came up on me and I felt good so I stayed with them. 5 was 5.43. 6 was 5.38. I was getting close to Albert now. 7 was missed on my watch. I pased Albert and had another runner with me. Mile 8 was 5.54 9 was 5.51. This was the hill and I got into 6th place. We then got to the top and came down and Albert and the other runner surged ahead of me about 100 feet. I thougt in my mind I could catch them on the flat last 2 miles because every up or flat I was gapping these guys and down hill they caught me and passed me. 10 was 6.01. Made it out of the Canyon. 11 was 5.49. Albert was fading and I wanted to wait till mile 12 to pass him but when someone is struggling, that's when you make your move. I pased him and tried to focus on form. Now I am a target for him. 12th mile was 5.51. No way I could catch the guy in front of me so I focused on not letting Albert get me. 13 was 5.48 and I made it to the shoot and peopl were going crazy because Albert was Pourin it on. I got on my tip toes and pushed it on in for 7th place. Its beautiful down here and we will take in the scenery today.

I multi tasked this morning and saved a ton of money by running! I moved 2 of my semi trucks from a job site 1 mile away and ran back to the job site from where I parked them in Draper. I was in Levis and luckily I wore my running shoes. I must of been a site for those that passed me. ( he must be a new runner and hasnt figured out the running gear yet.)  I ended up with 2 miles.

This evening I ran 8 miles and my brand new garmin 310 is giving me problems. Good thing I bought it at REI this time. Im going to take it back tonight and exchange it. My right hip is hurting and it is a painful dull feeling. Im going to ice bath it right now and baby it for a while.

I always go into a race knowing there will be competition and I did today also which is good because right off the bat I had some good runners around me. I felt my legs kind of heavy at mile 1 and guy a 5.24 mile which is good and about the same time as last weeks race. I was passed at mile 1.5 and putme into 2nd but he looked young and I felt like he would guy mile 3 and if catch him. That was the case and I thought that would be it but he came back at mile 8 and made a push to end up with a minute and a half lead to win. I could feel it Pretty good from moabs race and tried to push but couldn't seem to be able to break a 6 pace so I guess my age is showing there. The winners name is Jason Nance and will probably be getting on here to blog his miles so watch for him he Has a great career ahead of him. I wished I could go back to 21 and see where if be today! Mile 2 was 5.46 3 was 5.30 4 was 5.55 5 was 5.43 6 was 5.36 7 was 5.46 8 was 5.50 9 was 6.01 10 was 6. 11 was 6.21. 12 was 6.07 13 was 5.46 and .1 was :56. The official on a bike wrecked right behind me and I felt bad. I shouldve done the right thing and gone back and helped him up. I was off of winning anyways.

You guys I know im ashamed of not running the past 2 days. I really needed the rest though. I beat the crap out of my body on Saturday. I learned some really good IT band exercises though that I hope to be able to do.  My legs are seriously spent. I ran 10 soggy miles today and it was harsh. every mile drug which happens on your runs some days. I need Ice, and love.
